CORE VALUES

Teamwork:

It is our commitment to each other to share the responsibility we have to serve and protect the
citizens of Grant County. We do this by being willing to lend a hand, sharing knowledge, or in performing a task
for one another.

Role Model:

We all know in a small area such as Grant County, everyone knows everything about everyone
else. That is why it is important that we set the guidelines for behaviors, both on and off duty, that acceptable to
others that are watching. Anything else would be hypocritical.

Integrity:

It is the inner sense of wholeness, which is derived from the incorporation of a number of values in
ones’ daily actions and choices. These values include bravery, honesty, and consistency in character. Integrity is
essential in building respect and trust between the public and the police.

Tradition:

Be proud of it – learn from it – not bound by it. We believe that the challenges/opportunities of today
and, those of the future, require new and innovative solutions. We encourage and empower our employees to
learn from tradition and apply it to the ever changing endeavors.

Ownership:

Employees need to take ownership of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and be accountable for
delivering friendly and professional service. We need to take pride and ownership in all that we do and say. Do
not wait to be asked or told, but identify what needs to be done and do whatever it takes to get it done. Show
determination to deliver, own the outcome, and never give up.

Respect:

It is a feeling of admiring someone or something that is good, valuable and important. It is the ability to
see and celebrate the value in ourselves and others. It is to act in a way which shows that you are aware of
someone’s rights, wishes, etc. We must demonstrate this through the courteous treatment we offer each other in
the conducting of our daily business. We strive to treat others with courtesy and respect at all times, not because of
whom they are, but because of who we are. Our duties will be carried out in a respectful and professional manner
regardless of the actions or failings of others.

Loyalty:

Is the faithfulness to a community, custom, cause or duty. It means nothing unless it has at its heart the
absolute principal of self-sacrifice. It is not measured by what you do for those you serve, but by how you support
those who serve you.

Continuous Improvement:

It is never giving up and always striving to better yourself and those around you. It
is questioning current policies and practices when appropriate, it is regularly reviewing completed tasks, it is
learning from failure and it is accepting constructive criticism. In short, continuous improvement is always
challenging yourself and those around you.

Trustworthy:

Earned trust allows the citizens of Grant County to feel secure, and it assures them we will meet
our obligations. Each member of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office must take responsibility and be held
accountable to ensure our continued success. The esteem the community holds for the Grant County Sheriff’s
Office is based squarely on each member’s honesty, integrity, reliability, and loyalty.
